Tackling Holiday Decoration Organization Like A Pro

Holiday decoration organization

Now that we have all recovered from the holidays and are settling into the new year, it’s time for a fresh start and some new habits.

No matter if you are someone who takes holiday decorations down early, or waits a few weeks, we’ve got a few tips and tricks that can help you stay organized and efficient all throughout this year.

Before taking down current decorations, be sure to take pictures of your decorated areas. This will work as a guide for next time and help save you time placing everything instead of trying to recreate it by memory. These pictures can also be added to your planning list so you can see what decorations you can add throughout the year without clashing with what you have of overspending on items you already have and might have just forgotten.

If any items are broken or need to be replaced, be sure to take pictures and document the dimensions. Keeping a planning list for each holiday will help keep you on budget, organized, and efficient when the month starts getting crazy.

Did you keep to your budget this year? If not, think about adding a little extra money to the budget each month, so when a big holiday like Christmas comes back around, you are prepared.

Hitting Christmas sales is one of my favorite things to do, but I don’t even do it without my holiday planner and picture guide! It helps me not overspend or buy items that won’t fit in my space. Also, this is the perfect time to grab wrapping paper, holiday cards, and all those extra do-dads for next year if you have somewhere to put everything. If you don’t have a predetermined space for some of the little extras, I’d suggest you opt out.

I put decorations away by room, but you can group items any way that makes sense to you to store. I like using labels that list what’s inside each bin. You can use the list method like me, or you can add a picture of what you are putting in the bin on the front of you bin if you like a visual method more.

The whole point to holiday decor organization is to store what you have nicely to preserve your items, know where you have room to grow and add to, but mainly, be intentional with the decorations you are bringing into your home.

Remember, you want your holiday decorations to reflect you and your family and not every decoration will do that. Be mindful of your space and your budget to you can lessen overspending and the stress that comes with that.
