Organizing Halloween

Chaos Managed Halloween Organization

The holidays are quickly approaching and if you're like me, you are looking around wondering where the time has gone!

Personally, I get so excited for fall! I love Halloween, the decorations, the costumes, trick or treating. Let us not forget all the pumpkin flavored treats!!

One of my favorites is Pumpkin Scones! I love this recipe and you can check it out here:

I am somewhat of a minimalist, but the one thing I allow myself to have in excess are holiday decorations. There is just something about decorating the house that brings the holiday to life!! And who doesn't need a little magic in their life every now and then??

The downside to all the holiday fun is that it can easily start to overwhelm. So, how to keep track of what you have and make time to get it all out?

Never fear, I am here to help!

I have 10 bins of Halloween decorations in my garage plus a few larger items that won't fit in bins in the attic. I start with the inside and I usually put things in the same places every year. I will change it up if the feeling hits me, but if I am running low on time, it's much easier to go with what has worked in the past.

One way to remember is to take pictures of your house when you have everything in place. You can print the pictures and put them on the front of the bins or place them inside and use a label on the outside.

I assess decorations as I get things out and when I put them away. If I am not sure about a decoration as I take it out, I will use it and reassess before putting it away. If it doesn't make the cut it goes in the donation pile and out of the house immediately.

This system makes putting decorations away a breeze. And remember before putting your bins away, always label the outside of the bin with what holiday it's holding and store bins together.

And once all your decorations are up, it's time to celebrate Halloween with a batch of witches’ brew!! This recipe is kid-friendly, easy, so delicious. and a family-favorite!!!

Witch's Brew Recipe:

1 (14 ounce) can Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk

1 (2-liter) bottle orange soda, chilled

1 (46 ounce) can pineapple juice

Orange sherbet

In punch bowl, stir together milk and pineapple juice. Add orange soda.

Top with sherbet and serve over ice of desired. Refrigerate leftovers.

So whether you are a Halloween horror fan or Mickeys Halloween is more your style, once you have your house and yard transformed, pop in some scones, whip up a batch of brew, and cuddle with your favorite witch or ghoul and enjoy!!
